10Days Wildlife Chimpanzee & Gorilla Safaris
Day 1: Arrival
You will be welcomed by our company representative upon your arrival at Entebbe airport and transferred to the Lodge/hotel where you will unwind, dinner and overnight stay at Sheraton Hotel Kampala or Anderita Hotel Entebbe.
Day 2: Transfer to Murchison falls National Park
Our first stop is 3 hours out of Kampala is at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary where we track Rhinos on foot – a most unusual experience with some great picture-taking opportunities. A great way to start your Big-5 Plus Safari in the Pearl of Africa.
Here you are led by a ranger who will take you within 10 meters of the Rhinos which in itself a most adventurous activity. The aim of this Rhino sanctuary is to protect and release back the Rhinos into Murchison Falls Park under heavy protections where they used to live in abundance.
You will enjoy morning breakfast at your hotel and or coffee at the sanctuary and drive to Murchison Falls National Park and Enjoy a view of the “top of the thunderous Murchison falls” where you will observe the River Nile squeezing itself in a 7 meter gorge before tumbling 40 meters down in a thunderous explosion and then flows down into a very peaceful river whose water banks are swarmed with a profusion of water and land animals as well as birds and a hike if time allows. It will take you around 5 hours from Kampala with about 305 km. You will enter through Kichumbanyobo gate. Paara covers a distance of about 85km from Masindi town by the shortest route. You will proceed to Fort Murchison Lodge or Paraa Safari Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Game drive and launch cruise – Murchison Falls
Early morning breakfast and then go for a game drive where you will spot various animal species like elephants, giraffes, lions, Leopards, African Buffalos, Uganda kobs among others. In the afternoon you will go for a launch cruise on the park’s main tourist attraction the unique Murchison Falls as well as the River Nile with its streaming hippo and serried ranges of crocodile along the sandbanks, many bird species as well as large numbers of different species getting down to drink & bathe. Dinner and overnight at the lodge as above.
Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After your breakfast, you will thereafter set off on a 9 hour journey to Kibale Forest National Park. The drive is through verdant countryside inter-passing traditional homesteads and farms and via the towns of Hoima and Fort Portal which rests in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon. This is a full day drive. You will have lunch en-route. Dinner and overnight stay at Primates Lodge Kibale or Kibale Forest Camp
Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking- Kibale Forest
Take early morning breakfast and go for briefing and start chimpanzee trekking. Kibale Forest National Park is one of the best safari destinations in Africa for chimpanzee tracking. Kibale’s 795km2 National Park contains one of the most beautiful and with the most varying tracts of tropical forest in the whole of Uganda. This is place to a number of forest wildlife, most especially 13 species of primate coupled with chimpanzees.
After trekking, you will have lunch and then visit Bigodi wetland where you will experience a lot of bird life, butterflies and unspoilt nature! Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight as above.
Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
You will have breakfast and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will arrive well in time for lunch. Enjoy your lunch and unwind at your lodge or embark on a brief evening game drive or visit community and salt Lake Katwe for an experience in salt mining, creator lake safaris and a chance to spot rare pink flamingos that migrate from Lake Nakuru to Lake Munyanyange and vis-vasa. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge or Bush Lodge at Kazinga Channel.
Day 7: Game drive and launch cruise – Queen Elizabeth National Park
You will go for early morning game drive in the Kasenyi sector, you may spot various animals like the elephants, Uganda kobs, leopards among others. Return to the lodge for late breakfast, in the afternoon you will go for a launch cruise where you will spot various water animals like Hippos and crocodiles, the cruise will also enrich you with various water birds. Dinner and overnight as above.
Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi
After having your morning breakfast, you will set off for Bwindi passing through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park where you may spot some tree climbing lions. You will have lunch en-route, arriving in Bwindi late in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Volcanos Lodge – Bwindi Lodge or Gorilla Valley Lodge – Bwindi
Day 9: Gorilla trekking – Bwindi
After an early morning breakfast you will drive to the Park Headquarters for briefing and go for gorilla tracking, this could take 4-6 hours depending on the movements of the gorillas. After tracking, return for lunch, visit the community, hike, or relax and preview your camera photos; dinner and overnight as above
Day 10: Transfer to Kampala/Entebbe
Early morning after breakfast, park your luggage and to Kampala have lunch en-route and top over in some towns and at the Equator for a few photos and then proceed to Entebbe Airport for your flight back home.
Your driver/guide will take you to the airport in time.
