Detailed Safari Programme

Day 1: Arrival and airport pickup
You will be met at the International Airport of Kilimanjaro by our representative. We will take you to the Blues & Chutney Country B&B. This charming country home is situated in the foothills of Mt. Meru in a lush green surrounding. Our safari manager will come to meet you and to provide you with a safari briefing. A wonderful home-cooked dinner will be served on the spot – either in the dining room or the terrace overlooking the beautiful gardens.

NB if you arrive into another airport other than Kilimanjaro we’ll arrange a connection flight to Arusha either on arrival or the following day (at extra cost). From Nairobi also road transfers in private or shared vehicles possible.

Day 2: Tarangire
Your Tour starts with the drive to Tarangire, Tanzania’s fifth largest national park and sanctuary for an unusually large elephant population. Majestic baobab trees are an interesting feature of the park, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. Animals concentrate along the Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area. There is a great diversity of wildlife including lion, leopard, cheetah and up to six thousand elephant.

Day 3: Lake Manyara
After breakfast we depart for Lake Manyara. Nestling at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, the park is recognized for its incredible beauty. You can see many game animals such as Buffalo, Elephant, Giraffe, Impala, hippo and others.
Driving time approx. 1 hour.
Overnight at Rift Valley Lodge overlooking Lake Manyara. All meals included.

Day 4: Ngorongoro
After leisurely breakfast you travel towards Ngorongoro. En route visit of the lively market of Karatu. Around 11:00 hrs you reach Ngorongoro Conservation Area home of the world famous Ngorongoro Crater. It is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and a natural sanctuary for some of Africa’s densest animal populations and one of the few places where the rare black rhino can be observed in its natural habitat.
There are various options to spend the reminder of the day (at additional cost):
Visit of a Masai Village (extra cost of 30 USD per vehicle)
Game drive at the Ngorongoro Crater Floor (295 USD Ngorongoro Crater Fee per vehicle)
Ranger guided Nature Walk along the Crater Rim (25 USD per person)
Driving time approx. 2 hour.
Overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge. All meals included.

Day 5: Ngorongoro – Serengeti
After breakfast you start on your way to Serengeti National Park. After stopping for your picnic lunch on a kopje (rock outcropping) in Serengeti you will continue further into the park and go on a game drive.
Driving time approx. 3 – 3.5 hours.
Overnight at Mapito Tented Camp at Ikoma, Northern Serengeti. All meals included.

Day 6: Serengeti
Early morning game drive to see also nocturnal predators returning from hunting and animals waking up in early morning light, Full day of game drives around Serengeti. Depending on the time of year and the migration of the herds you can expect to see wildebeest, lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, baboons, hippos, rhinos, antelopes and many birds and other species. As in Ngorongoro your Driver/Guide will be in contact with other safari drivers and will amaze you with his skill at locating the hidden animals.

Option: Hot Air Balloon Safari (not included – pls book well in advance if you are interested since there is very limited space)
Early rise to join a Hot Air Ballon Safari most probably the most beautiful balloon flight in the world and the ultimate Safari Experience. At dawn we take off, rising as the sun rises and float in whichever direction the winds of the morning take us. Your pilot can precisely control the altitude of your balloon: sometimes flying at treetop height, sometimes lower, offering a unique perspective and great photographic opportunities of the wildlife below. At other times he will ascend to 1000′ or more to see the enormity and wonderful panorama of the Serengeti. After the landing you celebrate with champagne (well, an excellent sparkling wine) and a full English breakfast prepared and served in the bush in ‘Out of Africa’ style. After breakfast you receive your Serengeti Balloon certificate you drive back to your lodge or proceed with your day’s activities and game drives around the Serengeti.

Day 7: Serengeti – Zanzibar
After Lodge breakfast we take you to the nearest airstrip in the Serengeti for your flight to Zanzibar. Transfer to the beach resort of your choice (The Zanzibari Hotel, Ngalawa Beach Village, Kichanga Lodge or similar). All meals included.
Alternative accommodations on request e.g. * at a private villa like Milele Villas or similiar
* or a larger resort like Ocean Paradise Resort, Breezes Beach Club & Spa or similar

Day 8-11: Beach Extension
Relax and enjoy the beaches of Zanzibar. Breakfast and dinner included.

Day 12: Spice Tour
After breakfast transfer to Stone Town. On the way we will do the famous Spice Tour. We have developed a special Spice Tour with in depth information not only about spices, but also organically grown herbs and a detailed description about their traditional uses in medicine cosmetics and cooking. After the tour we invite for an opulent lunch where you can taste the spices and fruits.
In the afternoon you have some time at leisure!

Day 13: Zanzibar Town
In the morning we will show you Stone Town on our Historical Stone Town Tour. This tour takes you through fabled StoneTown, where history appears to stand still. With visits to the House of Wonders, the Palace Museum (People’s Palace) and the Arab Fort amongst others, it is a fascinating look at the essence of Zanzibar. You will see Zanzibar’s bustling market, winding alleyways, ornately carved and studded doors, two cathedrals and countless mosques!
Overnight at Maru Maru Hotel. Breakfast and lunch at the Spice Plantations included.
Optional excursions from Stone town can be easily arranged on request, for instance:
* Classical Concert with dinner at the Ruins of the old Sultan’s Palace at Mtoni (Tue & Fri)
* boat trip to Prison Island to visit the famous Giant Tortoises and some snorkeling
* Snorkelingtrip at Bawe and the famous, snow white sandbank (with lunch)
* Dolphin trip at Kizimkazi
* Great Zanzibar Island Trip with Jambiani Village Tour, visits at the Seaweed Center in Paje and the Zanzibar Butterfly Center
* Zanzibar Flora & Fauna Tour with visits to Jozani Forest, the turtle conservation project, Zanzibar Butterfly Center, Zala Reptile Park and canoeing on Pete Creek

Day 14: Departure
Departure transfer to Zanzibar Airport for your departure.
