20 Day Guided Research Safari

Day 1: Arrival for Uganda Edu-Safari

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by our guide and transferred to your hotel. Depending on time of arrival, you will have an introduction to Uganda and short briefing on your itinerary for your safari. Lodge/hotel in Entebbe or Kampala.

Day 2: Kampala-Bwindi

Our guide/driver picks you at 8:00 am from your hotel or place of residence in Kampala. Drive to Mbarara (283km from Kampala) via Masaka. Make a first stop over at Equator crossing for snacks and photography. Proceed with a visit to Igongo Cultural village this is more rewarding and amazing as you visit the Ankole museum. Lunch break is made at Agip Motel Mbarara. After lunch, proceed to the south western rift valley – escarpment in Kyambura on the edges of Queen Elizabeth National Park drive to Bwindi with chances of spotting some animals like elephants, hipos, climbing lions, kobs, hogs, buffaloes, and many other. This is the lushest highland rain forest on earth, filled with primates and exotic birds, valleys, hilltops and papyrus swamps.  Dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma Lodge/ Engagi Safari Lodge (Lodge facility) or Buhoma community Bandas (Budget facility) Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 3-7: In Bwindi Buhoma Area

After your breakfast, with your packed lunch, head to Bwindi National Park headquarters area of study for further management and arrangement with UWA staff. Meet and greet in the Morning, briefing and layout your research plan for the day’s data collection and days to follow. Arrange your laboratory area and fix your equipment if any and head to the field, hike and trek to the jungle to see your wild close relative for sample collections, as per requirements.

After lunch and Evening activities: Lab test, Volley ball, basketball, and evening walk.

Day 8: Bwindi Data Entry

After your breakfast, meet at your dining hall for briefing and thereafter start entering your collected data for the whole week in your computers for further management and analysis. After lunch, head to the Bwindi Community play ground for an arrangement for you to participate in village football competition. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Bwindi Hike

After your breakfast, meet at your dining hall for briefing and thereafter go for a morning hike in the edges of the National Park to the top of the mountains in the board of DR. Congo and Uganda watching beautiful valleys from the top hence visiting two countries without visas or checkpoint. ‘Jungle boarder cross’. Enjoy you photography experience and Hike back to the lodge for your lunch. After lunch you can do your personal admin and visit a nearby local market for a simple shopping in the jungle.

Day 10-13: In Bwindi Buhoma Area

After your breakfast, with your packed lunch, head to Bwindi National Park headquarters area of study for further management and arrangement with UWA staff. Meet and greet in the Morning, briefing and layout your research plan for the day’s data collection and days to follow. Day 14: Bwindi Data Entry and presentation design

After your breakfast, meet at your dining hall for briefing and thereafter start entering your collected data for the whole week in your computers for further management. Analyse your data and design your final presentation to be presented to the stakeholders or staff, your college or university home and your parents, guardians or sponsors. After lunch, relax at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 15: Student presentations and Celebration with collaborators (Party) Bwindi

After your breakfast, meet at your dining hall for briefing and thereafter head to hospital main hall, set up your presentation equipment (computer, projector, microphone and loud speakers). The hall chairs are already full with invited and non-invited guests ready to enjoy your entertaining, educative and encouraging information you collected during your stay with them. After lunch, head to the venue where your party was arranged for you. Enjoy drinks, snacks and corns as you listen and dance to a mix of both local African and international blend music. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 16: Bwindi-Queen Elizabeth

After early breakfast head for Ishasha, which is the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, carry out a game drive where you may sight tree-climbing lions. Ishasha is dominated by acacia woodland and scrubland and features the meandering Ishasha River, banked by a riparian forest. After a picnic lunch drive all the way to the northern sector of the park to the park headquarters to arrange your park activities early. Meals and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge, Kingfisher Safari Lodge (Lodge facility) or Ihamba Safari Lodge (Budget Facility) for dinner and overnight.

Day 17: Queen Elizabeth National Park

Early morning game drives to see more animals that habit this park, that include predators’ lion. Leopard and other game. Over 500 bird species have been identified here, making it a Mecca for bird-watchers. They include the black bee-eater, 11 different species of kingfisher and several falcons, eagles and other raptors. Queen Elizabeth National is one of the most outstanding treasures of Uganda, and has been designated a Biosphere Reserve for Humanity under UNESCO auspices. It borders on Lake George and Lake Edward as well as Kazinga Channel in the western area of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Visit Salt Lake Katwe for an introduction to salt mining with a local guide. After lunch take a 2-hour launch cruise on the Kazinga channel. This waterway joins Lakes Edward and George and it is filled with schools of hippos, buffaloes with elephants at the banks. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge, Kingfisher Safari Lodge (Lodge facility) or Ihamba Safari Lodge (Budget Facility) for dinner and overnight.

Day 18: Queen Elizabeth-Kibaale

After breakfast, drive to Kibale National park this will give you a chance to cross the Equator twice differently for more fun and for photographs you will Enjoy the winding scenery of the foot hills of Mt. Rwenzori and head to the crater lakes region with over 30 crater lakes to be explored. The place has got a ravishing and luring terrain, stop over in Fort Portal for lunch, Take lunch and in the afternoon tour Fort Portal town. Day 19: Kibaale Forest National Park.

This park is commonly accepted for a superlative diversity and highest massing of primates in the Great Lakes region. Here we shall take a nature walk in the tropical rainforest, search for wild chimpanzees with trained guides. After lunch, take a nature walk in Bigodi swamp to look for different bird species like the Papyrus Gonolek, White-winged Warbler and many more also to see plants. Dinner and overnight at

Day 20: Kampala or Entebbe Departure.

Early morning departure, driving back to Kampala, arrive in Kampala between 12.00 and 13.30 in the early afternoon depending on traffic, proceed to the Entebbe hotel for your lunch and relation before being transferred to the Airport for a night flight back home.
