Rwanda Tour in Details
Day1: arrive in Kigali
On your grand arrival at the Kigali International Airport you will be met by your guide who will drive you to your Hotel in Kigali. (Overnight at Lamigo Hotel)
Day 2: city cultural tour
After breakfast, your Guide will collect you from your hotel to go and explore the historical minds of Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. You will visit the land marks from the colonial independence era; and also the current areas such as Gisozi Genocide memorial, Kandt National Museum, the Belgian camp, Gallery and African Craft Village are well worth a visit as it gives the visitor an interesting insight into Rwandan culture. In the afternoon, Visit the reconciliation village, Nyamata and Ntarama Genocide churches, return to the lodge in the late afternoon.
Day 3: transfer to Nyungwe national park
After breakfast, your guide will collect you from the hotel and transfer you to Nyungwe National park. On your way, you will visit the Kings Palace of Nyanza, National museum at Butare, followed by Lunch. And then drive to your hotel at Nyungwe. The National park is the largest Afro-Montane forest in east and central Africa. Several large mammals inhabit the park which includes blue fronted duiker, Golden cats, leopards, and bush pigs.
The park has about 280 species of birds recorded. 0ver 90% of them are forest dwellers. 26 are Albertine rift endemic. Overnight at Nyungwe Forest lodge.
Day 4: Nyungwe national park
Early morning Breakfast, you will either drive to Kyamudongo or at Uwinka Chimpanzee tracking points. When you start the walk, you are likely to encounter primate species, sight birds and with a bit of luck find a group of chimpanzees who reside in the rain forest. These delightful apes, more closely related to humans than to any other living creature, are tremendous fun to watch as they squabble and play in fruiting trees. We will return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will have another forest walk in one of the 8 walking trails or do a canopy walk or the colobus tracking trail, or relax at the lodge besides the swimming pool. Overnight at Nyungwe forest lodge.
Day 5: transfer to kibuye
After hearty breakfast, your safari guide will collect you from the hotel and transfer you to kibuye, on your way, you will visit the orphanage home (L’esperance), followed by lunch in kibuye. In the afternoon, you will take a boat ride to the napoleon hut and the Amahoro (peace) island at Lake Kivu or have a swim as an option. Dinner and overnight at Lake Kivu Serena hotel.
Day 6: transfer to Ruhengeri
This morning, after breakfast, the guide will collect you from the hotel and transfer you to Ruhengeri to your gorillas tracking point. You will have lunch en-route in Gishenyi. Overnight at mountain gorilla view hotel.
Day 7: gorilla tracking.
Up relatively early for a hearty breakfast to give you the energy needed for your gorilla trek. Before 6:30 am, report to the ranger station for registration and a talk by one of the rangers; the guides will then take you through the bush pushing your way through the undergrowth, parting thick creepers, to track the gorillas. The trek can take from half an hour to 7 hours – a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a study pair of walking shoes. You are allowed exactly one hour with the gorillas before returning to the base station.
In the afternoon depending on your trek, if you come back early and you have the energy; you will refresh and drive to the Kinigi cultural village to enjoy the Batwa dance. Overnight at Mountain Gorilla view Hotel.
Day 8: Transfer to Kigali air port
After breakfast, the guide will transfer you to the Kigali International Airport. Please note that check-in for international flights should be done 2 hours prior to departure of the flight. In the departure hall (after check-in) you will find a small restaurant, a sitting area and several duty-free shops for your convenience.
